Zinc is one of the minerals that is vital in keeping your body healthy. Likewise, it is also responsible in maintaining your DNA and protein synthesis.

Just like any other minerals and vitamins needed by your body, you should know the required amount of zinc that you should take to prevent youth health issues. This mineral should be included in your diet since your body cannot make it alone. However, the amount of zinc depends on the age and gender based on the recommended dietary allowance. The older you are the higher dosage you should take.

Where you can find Zinc?

There are lots of foods where you can get this mineral. Essentially, the best source of this mineral is from oyster but it is also available in poultry products and red meat. Moreover, you can also obtain Zinc from dairy products, legumes, soy foods, fortified breakfast cereals and whole grains. Nevertheless, it is important that you should know the exact amount per serving that could meet the daily requirement.

Ideally, if you do not know the dietary requirement that you need, you can consult a dietician or health professional before planning your diet. As mentioned earlier, the amount that you should take will be based from your age. Keep in mind that inadequate amount of Zinc in your body would cause youth health issues but you should also consider not to over consuming this mineral.

However, it does not mean that you can obtain Zinc from these sources alone. You can include the different foods alternately in your diet for variations. On the other hand, if you are not able to prepare your diet everyday you can take supplements rich in zinc.
